Please continue to keep Sr. Mara Anne and the Dominican sisters in your prayers. A Mass of resurrection will be celebrated on Monday evening at Mission San Gabriel.
Sr. Mara Anne touched many, many lives and was a very special member of our faculty. Several of our students will represent St. Ignatius, one of sister’s most beloved communities, during the Mass, and there will be an honor guard of boys from St. Catherine’s Military School, where sister served on the administrative team for many years.
Sister Mara Anne will be buried on Thursday at the MSJ Dominican Motherhouse in Fremont, California. I will be flying to San Jose to attend the service and will take your thoughts and prayers with me.
Sister was a kind and loving person. She made each person she encountered feel loved, whether old or young. She lived a life full of selfless service.
By her life and her example, she lived out the Dominican pillars of Study, Prayer, Service, and Community.
We have been blessed to have had her with us at St. Ignatius these last few years and she will be greatly missed.
